PROJECT CENTAURUS

Creative & technical practice

Imagine freely. Test carefully.

Creative work and technical experiments make different contributions: one opens possible worlds; the other puts specific assumptions under pressure.

01 / Creative & technical practice

Worldbuilding as inquiry

Science fiction can make an abstract question tangible. What would daily life look like in a society shaped by human–AI collaboration? What would people keep private, choose to delegate, or refuse to automate?

Worldbuilding provides room to consider institutions, relationships, cultures and conflicting values together. It is not a prediction or a promise. A convincing fictional world can reveal a question worth investigating without supplying the answer.

02 / Creative & technical practice

Artistic exploration

Art can explore the emotional and symbolic dimensions of living with artificial intelligence: familiarity and distance, dependence and independence, the desire to be understood and the limits of that understanding.

This direction treats images, stories and speculative settings as ways of thinking. Their value need not depend on depicting a frictionless future; ambiguity and disagreement can be part of the work.

03 / Creative & technical practice

Small, bounded experiments

Technical practice focuses on making ideas testable through modest software prototypes. Possible areas include collaborative workflows, contextual memory, interfaces for human oversight and the boundaries of agent autonomy.

A useful prototype should have a clear purpose and a limited scope. Testing should include failure, interruption and recovery, not only the successful path. Experimental software is not the same thing as a reliable product.

04 / Creative & technical practice

A horizon, not a claim

Embodied AI and robotics may become a future direction. They bring additional questions about physical consequences, safety and how agency is understood when a system shares a space with people.

Project Centaurus does not present robotics as a current capability. For now, the creative and technical directions offer a grounded place to examine possibilities without confusing an imagined system with one that has been built.
